Tableware Today Feature on ME!

Tableware Today Feature on Tovari Designs Obviously, and sadly,  it's been awhile since I have blogged. It seems like a daily uphill battle of single motherhood, sick children, melanoma surgery, constant struggles of running a business, and the constant struggle to get more business, make the wares, paint the wares... Nothing seems to be blog worthy to me, or I should say... who cares???  Just when I thought of giving up, I got a wonderful phone call from the owner of Tableware Today magazine. Yes, I said giving up, and no, it is not in my DNA to ever give up on anything. I would never be where...

Coming soon… Large and medium bowls to match my serve ware.

Work in progress... Tovari's new place settings are almost complete! Large and medium bowls will be available soon.  Also look for the variety of colors my new 2015 line will be available in.  If you do not already know, I love to cook.  I designed these plates and bowls to be oversized.  The plates in particular do not have the round cut out in the middle, allowing for a flat surface area with a slight organic turn up on the ends for function.  The flat plate was something I experience in my fine dining adventures  all throughout Europe.  I love, love, love the functionality of them...

Work in progress for 2015

Here is a sneak peak of a few of my flower vessels I am working on.   They will be part of my new 2015 collection inspired by movement, as the dancer and choreographer is still a part of me... Of course my new vintage lace is really the star of the show and certainly a huge inspiration.  I will have an entirely new Summer collection coming out with my newly created colors.  The star of my dance line will be my new yellow shown on the serving tray.  Hope you love it!  Xo Tovari Designs, Everything Good and Beautiful...

Winter blooms in my garden… Lavender for my 2015 line

It's hard to believe that it is Winter in Florida.  I planted these cacti a long time ago.  It's a little embarrassing how much pleasure it gives me watching them grow.  I truly did not know a lot about these when I planted just 3 of them.  Crazy how they spread and grew so quickly.  Coming home from my run yesterday, I noticed the very cool blooms on the top and become very inspired with the particular coloring.  LOVE  the lavender with the red.  If you look closely at the top of the blooms you can see the particular grayish/lavender I will be recreating.  I also love the red seeds...

Lace platters in memory of a loved one… final pics

Finally, the completed platters for Lori in memory of her mom.  For those of you that follow my blogs, you will recall this project.  My dear friend and client lost her mom and offered me a few pieces of her mom's lace.  I had an idea of creating platters for her using her moms lace to remember her by.  This project took me longer than planned.  Because these pieces would be sentimental, I wanted them to be special.  The lace was a little hard to work with, which created another challenge.  I was able to make it work and hope Lori will love the finished product. I really love the scalloped...

Follow along on my latest commissioned piece

My vision for this piece is coming along.  I am creating a nest of pieces to be the center of attention on a table in a living room.  I already love the colors and style of the room that the interior designer, Lisa Michaels created.  Lisa Michaels is a new interior designer for me to be working with. She is located on the East Coast of Florida, please check out her lovely work.  Follow along as this piece comes together.  My favorite part of my job is creating one of a kind custom pieces for homes.  Everyone deserves something special made just for them to fit into their intimate surroundings...

Lace platters in memory of a beloved one

When my friend and clients Lori  lost her mom this year, I thought it would be nice to make her something in remembrance of her mom.  She told me her mom had some lace and it would be nice if I could use it.  So, I decided to make her a git of some platters with the two pieces of lace she gave me.  I must admit, she gave me this lace a few months ago.  It has taken me until today to start on the project because I know how meaningful these will be to Lori.  I could not decide what to do, and really lacked a vision until today.  I hope these fire beautifully for her.  She has requested...

From kiln to JLD… Now that’s fresh

I love when I open the kiln and have a successful firing.  These pieces were unloaded on Saturday  at 10:00 and delivered fresh to Judith Liegeois  Designs  at 3:00.  Now that is fresh!!  I particularly love having the Ari from Tovari as my helper, inspiration, and number one supporter.  Going to JLD downtown Naples Florida with Ari  is always a treat.  We can spend hours there looking at the marvelous eccentricities.  I always leave inspired to keep creating unique one of a kind objects.  This time my visit gave me new ideas that I will be developing.  Pictured above are pieces...

The start of a new collection…

I always love the first day of the start of a new collection.  Keeps me up at night not knowing if I will continue to be inspired and creative enough to evolve my line.  I always hope to get bigger, better and more interesting if that makes sense.  Improving my quality and craftsmanship is constantly a concern of mine as well, as I am only as good as my last object created.  Honing in on my market and the demands for functional, yet beautiful objects is definitely helping.  So, for all my fans, please feel free to communicate with me regarding your likes and dislikes.  Today I am starting...
