A blank canvas…What to do what to do…

Ok, I love the way this earthenware piece bisque fired.  I used my Italian lace for texture on the outside and sculpted the shape from my shell inspirations.  In my efforts to practice restraint, a little voice tells me to just clear glaze it and leave it alone.  That way it will sell easier... but I just can't!  What do you think, another melted glass eccentricity??? I see some perrier bottle green, my french water bottle blue and for a little opaque glass, my off white pinkish glass.  Wish me luck!  Xo  Tracy   Tovaridesigns...Everything Good and Beutiful...

Lavender, THE hot color right now

I love lavender.  I have always felt that it could be a neutral color.  Lavender seems to be the trending color right now.  It is on the runway, the red carpet and a hot color in floral designs right now.  I created this glaze for my Raku pieces several months ago.  I love that during the reduction process I get flashes of silver with the lavender.  It seems to finally be a consistent color that I can achieve, which is hard to do in the Raku firing process.  I used the same glaze on both pieces, the shell with texture and pod, as well as the two vases.  The vases are different for me, as they...

Tovari pic of the day… From greenware to table

This is one of my favorite pieces of lace.  I purchased it from a lovely lady in Burano when I was is in Italy.  As you can see from the lace, it is quite thick.  This creates a better relief and surface area for me to paint on.  Even though I consider the pattern to be more traditional, I have figured out how to put a bit of a contemporary flare on it.  Instead of doing a subtraction method of painting, I paint only the relief.  This gives it a more contemporary/transitional edge compared to the old world look.  You can see the difference in these two pieces.  Also, this is a little...

Tovari pic of the day!

Tovari Shabby Chic Raku bowl.  This is the first time I have tried this glazing technique.  I am very delighted with the outcome and hope I can achieve it again! I love the three dimensional glazing in the middle.  The silver flashings help create elegance on this piece.  I hope you like it too... Xo Tracy    Tovari...Everything Good and Beautiful...

Carting my wares around New York City… and having a little fun along the way.

I love New York.  Every time I go I get inspired by the energy and the opportunity of the city.  Growing up as a dancer, I always pictured  myself making it there as a dancer and actress on broadway.  Obviously that did not happen.  I do not regret my decision to get married and have two beautiful children... but dreams should never die, and it is true that somethings do happen for a reason (Although I despise that saying). Following a back injury, I took pottery classes and fell in love with choreographing on my pottery instead of people.  I became obsessed with perfecting my work over...

Fresh new summer line from Tovari

I had so much fun coming up with these  variety of styles for my summer line.  I used the lace I found in Portugal and Burano for these mid sized platters. I believe it offers a style suitable to everyones liking..  Whether you like contemporary or traditional, these platters are all transitional.  Which ones do you prefer?  Black edges, or natural edges?  Italy or Portugal?  The top picture is the lace from Portugal.   I look forward to finding lace next month on my trip to Switzerland, London, Spain and Paris next month... wish me luck!  I am bringing the kids!!
