Not a bad place to sunbathe

New mid-sized Tovari Platters fresh from the kiln.  Every platter is hand washed after a bisque firing, removing clay dust and other material.  This ensures a quality piece free of debris that would get fired onto the platter along with the glaze.  After the platters are washed, they get a sunbath to make sure they are bone dry before painting.  Painting a piece that is even  slightly damp will not fire properly.  Do you think I should paint some black edges again?  Xo Tracy...

What an embarrassment! Kudos to Arturo Sandoval

It has taken me awhile to form the words to write this blog.  I live in the small town of Naples Florida.  Whenever an accomplished musician comes to town I get so excited that this place  is not forgotten.  I feel honored that these talented people have chosen to perform at our small, yet beautiful venue of Artist-Naples, formally known as The Naples Philharmonic.  Congratulations to Artist Naples for putting together an amazing Jazz concert last week.  This Jazz concert was like no other I have ever seen.  Famed trumpet player Arturo Sandoval, winner of 9 Grammy awards, 6 Billboard awards,...

Art is subjective… It’s true!

We have all heard the phrase, " art is subjective".  I always compared that statement with ," what is one persons trash is another persons treasure".  I can't tell you how many times I have created a piece that I  just dislike so much that I throw it away.  Only to have someone come pick it out of my garbage.. .It was not until last week until I experienced the  subjective reference myself.  I realized I have been making a mistake when going thru the creative process in my studio.  Aside from commissioned pieces I am working on, I am always trying to create from inspiration.  I felt...
